About Alo
Today, Alo Main Station buys cherry from a network of smallholders in Agana, many of whom farm less
than 1 - 2 hectares of land. The Alo team provides training on selective picking, on-farm cherry handling
and basic agronomy, and pays quality-based premiums for red, high-elevation cherry that meets the station's standards. They also reinvest part of their profits into community goods- such as seedling nurseries and local infrastructure - and time quality bonus payments to coincide with the period of the
year when farming families are usually most cash-strapped.About Agana
Agana is one of the highest-lying coffee communities in Bensa, a scattered village of small family farms
perched between 2,300 and 2,380 meters on the cold upper slopes above the main valleys of Sidama.
Farmers here traditionally grew a mix of subsistence crops with small patches of coffee, and until
recently there was no dedicated specialty station close enough to reward very high-elevation cherry.About the Coffee
Alo Agana Classic Natural" signals a specific village, a specific group of smallholders, and an ongoing partnership with Alo Coffee that is steadily lifting both cup quality and household resilience in one of
Sidama's most remote highland communities.
