      Thaita factory is situated on the foothill of Mount Kenya, near Kerugoya town. This region in the western part of Kirinyaga shares borders with Nyeri and boasts highly fertile soils. Constructed in 1987, Thaita was the last washing station to be built for Inoi FCS.

      Flowering runs from February - April and coffee is harvested from October – January.

      Once the cherries have been delivered to the washing station, they are handsorted so the underripes, insect-damaged, and other defective cherries are removed. The cherries are then pulped and fermented overnight. Once fermentation is complete, the parchment is washed and separated into P1, P2, P3 and P light. It is then dried for approximately 10 to 20 days.

      The farmers from this cooperative use cherry pulp, mixed together with cow manure, as fertiliser for their farmland.
